It turned out that he had this iodine challenge test done, and that seemed to correlate with the onset of his thyroid disease. After he started treatment, he developed this version of thyroid disease. This came about after he received the results of a test telling him that he had an iodine deficiency. One year he came down, and he had a rare type of thyroid disease that he came to see me about. In his mid-70’s, he was a flawless physical specimen.
